Annual Giving Specialist

Summary

Under supervision and direction, the Annual Giving Specialist will serve as the department’s Donor Experience Officer (DXO) responsible for managing a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects, providing personalized outreach to increase donor engagement and long-term support. This role blends digital and personal communication strategies to build relationships at scale and help prioritize major gift pipeline health.

Examples of Work

Manage and engage a portfolio of approximately 1,000 prospects with the goal of warming donors for increased philanthropic support.

Use multi-channel outreach (phone, email, video messages, social media, personalized mail) to engage donors in meaningful, consistent communication.

Conduct discovery and qualification to identify donors with potential for increased giving or major gifts pipeline referral.

Maintain timely, accurate records of donor interactions and activities in the CRM (e.g., Salesforce).

Implement personalized stewardship plans to enhance donor satisfaction and retention.

Collaborate with the Donor Relations team to deliver thank-you touchpoints, impact reports, and recognition.

Serve as the “voice” of the donor by sharing feedback and trends with the Annual Giving and Advancement leadership.

Contribute to annual fund campaign strategy and execution (Giving Day, year-end appeals, reunion giving, etc.).

Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to align messaging and personalize outreach.

Work closely with colleges, units and central departments to collect relevant updates for prospect engagement including regional event information, celebrations, initiatives and specific departmental outreach communications.

Leverage donor engagement tools (e.g., ThankView, EverTrue, Hustle, Gravyty, or similar platforms) to enhance outreach efforts.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
