Behavior Analyst

Summary

This role delivers behavior-analytic services to children with severe behavior disorders and their families. Responsibilities include conducting research on behavioral characteristics and quality of life, developing clinical programs, and potentially participating in educational programs.

  • Responsible for providing behavior-analytic services for children with severe behavior disorders, regarding a wide range of client (child/youth and caregiver) concerns related to their goals and learning, communication, social, emotional, independent functioning, and safety needs.
  • Applies principles, methods, and procedures for understanding the function of behavior and designing, implementing, and evaluating skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction systems that increase desired behavior, reduce challenging behavior, and facilitate effective functioning across a variety of conditions and settings, intended to help persons acquire or alter personal-social skills, improve adaptability to changing demands and/or develop a variety of problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of behavior-analytic systems, including performance management, consultation, and training in the application of the science of behavior and current research and practices in the field of behavior analysis.
  • Conducts research related to applied behavior analysis and understanding behavioral characteristics and quality of life of children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders and problem behaviors as it relates to the academic/social/emotional functioning of the child/youth.
  • May participate in the educational programs of the university by offering seminars or courses, and/or supervising the clinical, academic and research experiences of students.
  • May develop, implement, and direct clinical programs

Education and Experience

Master’s degree in a health-related area and four years of experience.

 

Licensure and Certification

BCBA board certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
