Bioinformatics Analyst I

Summary

This position works closely with research scientists in support of diverse research programs to mine and analyze large, complex, and unstructured biological datasets using computer programming or advanced statistical methods.

  • Develops, modifies, and applies software, algorithms, or pipelines to genomic or other biological data sets with the goal of understanding biological processes, diseases, or disorders.
  • In conjunction with research scientists, designs and analyzes experiments or data sets. Develops mathematical models for integrating disparate data sources for the purposes of more thorough analysis.
  • Assists in analysis and interpretation of research results and contributes to publications or presentations.
  • Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
