Captioner I

Summary

Create closed captioning for recorded digitized presentations created by faculty members, staff members, and administrators to provide videos that are accessible and compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.  Work closely with lead captioner to deliver closed captioned video materials.  Enter data and produce correspondence and administrative reports to direct supervisor.

  • Create transcribed lectures for students and faculty members for online learning management system requiring immediate turn-around.
  • Listens to pre-captioned lectures to check for visual inconsistencies in text and captioning to ensure that recordings are captioned properly.
  • Download and prepare recorded lectures for captioning materials for online classrooms. Import digitized Mediasite lecture materials to transcribe for classrooms online using several technologies, including (but not limited to) the CaptionMaker software application
  • Liaise between unit and instructional designers to deliver captioned lectures to students and faculty members for online learning management system requiring immediate turn-around.

Education and Experience

Associate’s degree or high school diploma and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
