Police Communications Operator II


This is specialized* non-sworn law enforcement work coordinating the operations of a public safety communications center involving computerized radio dispatching and operating telephone, radio, and computer systems in the communications center.

  • Provides training/instruction/directs the tasks of Police Communications Operators on a shift.
  • Updates communications reference materials.
  • Prepares detailed records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Contacts issuing police agencies by telephone or teletype to confirm warrants.

Education and Experience

A High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Licensure and Certification



This position does not typically have supervisory responsibility.
