Summary

This is specialized* non-sworn law enforcement work coordinating the operations of a public safety communications center involving computerized radio dispatching and operating telephone, radio, and computer systems in the communications center.

  • Provides training/instruction/directs the tasks of Police Communications Operators on a shift.
  • Updates communications reference materials.
  • Prepares detailed records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Contacts issuing police agencies by telephone or teletype to confirm warrants.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Public Safety Telecommunicator State Certification may substitute for an equivalent rate of experience.

This position does not typically have supervisory responsibility.
