This is an expert-level position recognized as a thought leader in areas of expertise which includes public and private cloud design, implementation, integration administration and maintenance in support of campus compute and storage platform needs, ensuring uptime, performance, resource availability and security. Specialist and Expert Professionals are expected to have technical acumen in their specific domain area. The Pre-eminent Professional is responsible for technical integration across multiple information technology disciplines including networking, compute, storage, databases, operating systems, middleware, and cloud (public and private). The pre-eminent professional is focused beyond the immediate tactical efforts on new emerging technologies and its alignment with the strategic IT goals of the University of Florida. Responsibilities typically include recommending operational strategies and plans with direct impact on results, influencing technology decisions made by leadership. Addresses complex and multi-dimensional problems. Requires communication with executive leadership on matters of strategic importance.

- Evaluates business requirements and conducts fit/gap analysis
- Develops and reviews alternative technical solutions
- Identifies and maps relationships between IT platform and infrastructure components
- Performs vendor analysis and assessments
- Facilitates the establishment of standards and procedures to guide the design of technology solutions.
- Provides technical recommendations to directors which include the development of ITN/ITB, trade study results, and technical presentations to support the goals of the organization
- Through mentoring, provides direction, methodologies, processes, and direct training to peers to increase their subject matter expertise and elevate their technical skills
- May represent the University through participation in forums, conferences, and the production of technical publications
- Addresses Tier 2 and Tier 3 support requests
- Acts as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years of relevant direct experience in the specific core competency within UFIT Infrastructure and Communication team and total 12 years of collective experience in similar IT roles across UF.
