Research Administration Assistant

Summary

The Research Administration Assistant provides primary administrative support for various programs, working under direct supervision. They handle moderately complex tasks and projects, utilizing job skills and knowledge acquired through training or experience. The role involves developing skills in navigating university and sponsor systems, understanding and explaining relevant policies and practices, and expanding knowledge of research administration guidelines.

  • Assists in proposal development and management, including entering information into systems, uploading documents, and coordinating documentation.
  • Reviews and establishes awards and projects, creating modifications as needed and ensuring compliance with commitments and budgets.
  • Enters financial transactions into the university’s accounting system and assists with post-award activities.
  • Demonstrates understanding of cost accounting principles, identifying and escalating unallowable transactions.
  • Handles personnel and compensation matters, including payroll distributions and identifying appropriate compensation methods.
  • Works on non-financial compliance issues like IRB, IACUC, COI, and escalates concerns as appropriate.

Education and Experience

High school diploma and four years of relevant experience or equivalent college coursework in place of experience.
