Summary

The Research Administrator I is an intermediate-level professional at the University of Florida, utilizing acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete assignments, projects, and tasks of moderate scope and complexity. This role involves working independently with general supervision, exercising judgment within established guidelines, and influencing others by explaining facts, policies, and practices. Key responsibilities include expanding knowledge of research administration guidelines and applying comprehensive understanding of federal, sponsor, state, and University policies to almost all transactions.

  • Independently manages program and administrative planning under general supervision, including advanced grant research, preparation, and submission.
  • Coordinates complex faculty participation in programs, oversees approval processes, identifies advanced funding sources, and handles intricate budget development and reporting.
  • Liaises with principal investigators and grants director, ensuring sophisticated program activities are developed and delivered efficiently.
  • Oversees program reporting and compliance efforts, applying comprehensive knowledge for practical program evaluation.
  • Manages and tracks detailed grant annual reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
  • Provides advanced pre-award support, including meticulous reviews of requests for proposal (RFP), ensuring full compliance with UF policies, and preparation of detailed budgets for each proposal.
  • Independently reviews and approves grant-related fiscal transactions, assisting with complex project close-outs and ensuring all expenditures align with sponsored awards.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
