Research Administrator III

Summary

The Research Administrator III is a skilled professional that manages not only transactions but also formulating strategies and administering policies or processes to support programs. This role provides detailed reports and information on the research administration program to school/college/unit leadership and collaborates with them to develop and implement research administration policies, processes, procedures, and services.

  • Manages complex agreements and navigates nuanced mechanisms requiring different approval processes, such as fellowships and clinical studies.
  • Creates multi-year budgets for complex projects, understanding the impact on unit, college, and F&A rate.
  • Facilitates politically important programs, researchers, or projects, providing strategic advice on risk management and compliance.
  • Independently handles all award-related transactions, including the processing of all awards and confirmation of cost-sharing commitment plans.
  • Engages in high-level financial management, including strategic purchases, contracts, and faculty effort allocation strategies.
  • Develops and implements administrative procedures to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and manage unit service and support functions.
  • Works collaboratively on compliance-related issues, identifying and resolving complex non-financial compliance requirements.
  • Provides guidance on hiring processes for non-faculty positions and participates in discussions about researcher activities as they intersect with the UF portfolio.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
