Research Administrator IV
Summary
The Research Administrator IV is an advanced technical leader and senior team member with recognized expertise in research administration. This role requires handling complex assignments, projects, and tasks with a high level of autonomy. The administrator will work independently, utilizing a comprehensive understanding of federal, sponsor, state, and university policies and procedures to manage nearly all problems within the field of scholarly activity in higher education.

- Provides primary administrative support for programs and navigates University and Sponsor systems and information resources.
- Analyzes structured and unstructured issues to determine appropriate solutions, especially in complex research administration and compliance scenarios.
- Manages and influences projects and processes with limited supervision, coaching, and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals.
- Engages in negotiating institutional commitments and manages complex proposal efforts, including those with international collaborations or projects in developing nations.
- Leads the coordination and management of complex research proposals, advising on alignment and content quality, especially for proposals with multiple sub awardees or international collaborations.
- Creates multi-year budgets for complex projects, advising on budgeting aspects and managing quotes and special costing documentation for funding opportunities.
- Handles all award-related transactions independently, advises on the financial viability of multiple grants and contracts, and manages service and support functions within the unit.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Operates with minimal supervision, providing leadership and guidance within the team.
