Safety Technician II
Summary
Conducts tests and inspects working areas, machinery, equipment and working conditions for compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. Provide support to Environmental Health & Safety Research Services program by monitoring and managing research assets such as fume hoods and autoclaves.

- Ensures the availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing and devices, and first aid supplies. Recommends and follows up to verify the implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintains records on safety inspections, and inventory of safety and fire equipment and devices.
- Conducts autoclave monitoring to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
- Conducts fume hood monitoring to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Completes other duties associated with autoclave and fume hood operation including troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment, providing training to researchers as needed, assisting with equipment commissioning, and providing immediate response to inquiries related to equipment operation/malfunction.
- Completes special projects as assigned by the Lab Safety Program Manager including space audits, tracking additional assets, scanning documents, and entering information into databases.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree plus two years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
