Title IX Coordinator

Summary

Responsible for monitoring, supervising, and overseeing all compliance with Title IX, including all UF direct support organizations and affiliates. Such efforts will include coordination of training, education, communications, and administration of complaint procedures for faculty, staff, students and third parties. The Title IX Coordinator has the responsibility to coordinate all campus-based programs (e.g., Athletics, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Housing, University Police, etc.) to monitor and implement Title IX compliance, including compliance with VAWA/Campus SaVE Act, other legislative actions related to sex discrimination, and all other relevant OCR guidance and directives. This position typically reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer [with access to the President and Board of Trustees as needed].

  • Develop and update the institution’s Title IX policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure that all policies are accessible to students, faculty, staff, and the wider campus community.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions on Title IX rights, responsibilities, and reporting procedures for students, faculty, staff, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote awareness of Title IX-related issues and preventive measures across the campus community.
  • Respond to and oversee all reports of sexual misconduct, harassment, or discrimination under Title IX.
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into reported incidents, ensuring the rights of all parties involved are respected.
  • Maintain detailed records of complaints, investigations, and outcomes.
  • Monitor the institution’s compliance with Title IX regulations and recommend necessary changes or improvements.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and data to federal agencies, as well as communicate regularly with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff seeking information or assistance related to Title IX issues.
  • Refer survivors and complainants to appropriate support services, such as counseling, medical care, or legal assistance.
  • Collaborate with various campus departments, including Human Resources, Student Affairs, Athletics, and Counseling, to ensure a coordinated approach to Title IX compliance and prevention.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with campus stakeholders to promote a safe and inclusive campus environment.
  • Stay current with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance related to Title IX.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills related to Title IX compliance.
  • Develop and implement prevention programs and initiatives to address and reduce sexual harassment and misconduct on campus.
  • Interface with local law enforcement, victim advocacy organizations, and other external agencies as needed.
  • Conduct campus climate assessments to gauge the prevalence and perception of sexual misconduct and discrimination and use the findings to inform institutional strategies.

Education and Experience

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and eight years of relevant experience.
