Veterinarian

Summary

Provides professional veterinary services in support of researchers in the health, care, and breeding of animals and the administration of surgical procedures/methods to animals. Diagnoses and treats diseases and injuries surgically or medically in animals. Plans, implements, and directs the activities, care, and husbandry of animals to ensure compliance with Public Health Service and USDA regulations.

  • Provides professional veterinary services in support of researchers in the health, care, and breeding of animals and the administration of surgical procedures/methods to animals.
  • Prescribes medications, establishes treatment modalities, and performs complex surgeries on animals.
  • Reviews and approves animal care and experimentation protocols to ensure compliance with veterinary standards and statutory requirements.
  • Oversees the veterinary care program and provides clinical care for teaching and research animals. Trains staff as needed.

Education and Experience

Doctorate degree in veterinary medicine, licensed as a veterinarian in the State of Florida and two years of appropriate experience.

Licensure and Certification

Licensed as a veterinarian in the State of Florida

Supervision

May provide supervision to veterinary care staff as appropriate.
