GIS Analyst
Summary
Under limited supervision, this position performs advanced technical work related to the development, maintenance, integration, and support of GIS, CAD, and building-related spatial data systems that support the university’s built environment. This role serves as a bridge between technical production work and system-level coordination by maintaining spatial datasets, supporting GIS applications, improving workflows, integrating CAD/BIM data, and collaborating with campus stakeholders to ensure accurate mapping and facility data. The incumbent provides analytical support, develops data standards, supports automation efforts, and helps maintain GIS resources that support planning, facilities operations, utilities management, and campus initiatives.
Examples of Work
• Maintain and oversee GIS datasets related to campus infrastructure, utilities, facilities, and property assets – ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems.
• Perform and coordinate quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes; identify discrepancies and reconcile data across GIS, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, document management systems, and related platforms.
• Develop, document, and maintain data standards, workflows, and procedures to support consistent data management and long-term usability.
• Create maps, dashboards, reports, and spatial analyses to support operational needs and decision-making across departments.
• Support the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of GIS web applications, mobile tools, and data services.
• Identify and implement workflow automation opportunities.
• Coordinate GIS-related tasks and workflows across departments, translating operational needs into technical GIS requirements.
• Provide technical support and training to internal users
• Work across functional areas (e.g. utilities, facilities, planning) to ensure GIS data and workflows align with operational requirements
• Support strategic initiatives involving campus space, infrastructure, and facilities data
• Assist in maintaining documentation related to GIS data, systems, and processes
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience and three years professional experience. Two years of GIS experience required.
