Laboratory Courier I

Summary

The Laboratory Courier I is responsible for providing pick-up and delivery services for various departments as directed. This role ensures the proper handling, storage, and transportation of specimens and maintains accurate logs and records as required by the department.

  • Provide daily delivery of client supplies and pick up specimens. Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of samples at correct temperatures by ensuring department safety and OSHA guidelines are followed.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle in proper working condition, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. Arrange for vehicle maintenance and coordinate backup vehicle coverage. Create and maintain a routing program with up-to-date client information, addresses, and stop requirements. Manage a database (Excel spreadsheet) of stops, mileage, start and end times.
  • Ensure clients receive result reports, supplies, and satisfactory service with each stop. Fill client supply orders daily, meeting specified turnaround times for consumables and printed material.

 

Education and Experience

Completion of ninth grade and possession of a classified driver’s license appropriate to the type of vehicle operated.
