Library Coordinator II

Summary

Positions provide professional level coordination for collection, research, cataloging, preservation, reference, or public services within UF libraries. Positions serve as unit liaisons to campus or other library departments, and they represent their unit or collections to campus and the public. These positions may also serve as technical or functional experts and internal consultants to other library personnel and, as such, raise the capacity of the library to provide services.  These roles typically require professional-level technical expertise in library or information management systems, advanced subject matter expertise, or proficiency in non-English languages. Level II positions work with limited direct guidance and substantial discretion or have responsibility for projects of considerable scope and complexity.

  • Provides general and specialized reference services for faculty, students and researchers.
  • Coordinates public services.
  • Assesses materials for preservation.
  • Collaborates with faculty to develop manuscript, print materials, and primary source holdings to support research and curriculum.
  • Provides collection interpretation for students, faculty, staff, and researchers.
  • Participates in the selection, acquisition, arrangement, and description of library materials and holdings.
  • Develops processing plans and workflows.
  • Develops and participates in instructional programs using classroom methods and educational technologies.
  • Collaborates with library development personnel in order to engage donors.
  • Develops and supports public outreach programs and events.
  • Develops exhibits and publications highlighting library collections.
  • Contributes to web resource development, digitization and metadata projects, archival processing, technology migrations or upgrades, or other initiatives.
  • Interprets or develops policies and procedures, or programs for a functional area or department.
  • Contributes to grant proposals and assists in identifying funding opportunities.
  • Serves on library, campus or professional committees.
  • May pursue an independent research agenda in a subject area or technical specialty.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of related library experience; or a master’s degree in Library or Information Science or some other directly relevant area.
