Payroll Specialist III
Summary
This position is responsible for performing advanced level specialized professional payroll work. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

- Performs advanced specialized work related to the administration and processing of the University’s payroll.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Facilitates the production of biweekly and supplemental payroll, one-time payments, overpayment corrections, and refunds. Serves as backup for Payroll leadership when needed.
- Recommends, interprets and implements payroll administrative policies and procedures. Suggests innovative process improvements through identifying root causes and recommending fixes.
- Advises and provides advanced-level support to faculty, staff, administrators, and outside venders and agencies by troubleshooting complex payroll issues.
- Researches and resolves intricate payroll related issues.
- May monitor Social Security, Medicare, federal withholdings, non-resident alien, and fringe benefit taxation and processing.
- Trains new specialists and ensures payroll knowledge is shared.
- Audits and reconciles tax records, payroll accounts, and other payroll records.
- Uses intermediate to advanced Excel skills to compile and analyze payroll data. Prepares reports for internal and external use.

Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
