Plumber II

Summary

Third level in a five-level career progression. Provides plumbing services. Begins/completes the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) level two plumbing curriculum. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. Exercises a certain degree of creativity and latitude. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.

Begin/complete hands-on training and education curriculum for level two plumbing (delivered by a certified instructor) through NCCER and demonstrate competency therein
Repair and preventively maintain faucets, sinks, traps, commodes, urinals, and flush valves
Maintain supply and discharge piping systems by opening clogged building and equipment piping
Install, maintain, repair, and replace sanitary and storm sewer lines, including rod sewer lines
Clean and maintain shop and personal plumbing equipment
Clean and maintain personal protective equipment
Install and repair plumbing for laboratories and classrooms, including safety showers, drinking fountains, water heaters, point of use, water filters, and reverse osmosis systems
Repair and preventively maintain gas, vacuum, air, chilled, steam, and hot water lines
Installs and maintains sump pumps
Provides support to other trades and contractors
Performs rough-in plumbing for minor construction projects, including minor plumbing layout
Operate University of Florida (UF) vehicles
Perform related duties (as assigned)

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in the procedures and methods for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing fixtures, heating fixtures, and accessories. Completion of the NCCER CORE, Plumbing Level One and Plumbing Level Two.

Licensure and Certification

Florida Class E operator (driver) license

Supervision

Supervisor provides daily written and verbal instructions
Does not directly supervise others
