Pre-construction Coordinator
Summary
Assist in the development and implementation of the University of Florida’s pre-construction program for new construction, major and minor renovations. Participates in performing GMP reviews, contract negotiations, facility program budget reviews, design budget phase verification, pre-construction budget reviews, scoping and the development of a construction database. Assume project management responsibilities for new construction and major/minor projects.

Develops and maintains cost data models for all aspects of Projects Management from Design through Construction including design fees, construction general conditions, staffing, profit & overhead costs
Participates with internal PD&C team(s) to perform Contract Negotiations, Fee and GMP Reviews of scope verification, general conditions, staffing for all Major and Minor projects and for Continuing Service Contracts.
Participates with Director of Capital Programs & Financial Management to maintain project program template and to assist in accurate cost programming for new projects.
Participates with Project Manager(s) in reviews of design phase estimates, early release packages, potential schedule accelerations, change orders, tax savings, etc.
Assists in development of policies that aid in streamlining and providing consistent practices for Major and Minor Projects implementation.
Assists in preparation of architectural and engineering facilities programs for buildings and other physical facilities on the University of Florida campus to maximum usefulness to the design architect or engineer may be achieved.
Assists University faculty, staff and students in presenting their architectural and engineering needs to the architects and engineers during the planning and design phases of projects. Represents the Assistant Vice President for the Division of Planning, Design and Construction at planning and construction conferences as tasked, conducts special studies and projects as assigned by the AVP.
Coordinates the requirements of the University with the needs of the building occupant in the planning and design of new construction and major renovations.
May function for the Assistant Vice President and/or Directors in their absence.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization (Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Building Construction/Management) and five years of appropriate experience in private construction industry or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience in construction industry. LEED AP and BIM (Revit) experience preferred.
