Research Development Strategist III
Summary
This position works under minimal supervision and uses acquired job skills to manage complex tasks with autonomy including training, mentoring and consulting on project strategy. It involves leading stakeholder meetings, ensuring compliance, shaping grant strategies, resolving process issues, assessing faculty needs, providing strategic goals and vision for the unit and supervising junior team members.

- Manage complex and critical tasks with significant autonomy, including onboarding, training, and mentoring efforts.
- Serve as primary consultant for structural, budgetary, cost share, and strategic aspects of each project.
- Apply advanced knowledge and experience to navigate a wide range of issues, especially those without established precedents.
- Develop actionable strategies that significantly impact current projects.
- Lead high-level meetings with stakeholders, addressing sensitive topics and fostering collaboration.
- Use knowledge of field trends and sponsor review processes to shape organizational strategy and grant submissions.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between internal processes and external/internal collaborative processes.
- Navigate institutional systems to assess faculty needs and anticipate future requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of services and programs, recommending and implementing improvements, as needed.
- Provide strategic direction for the vision, mission and goals of the unit.
- Mentor and supervisor junior Research Development Strategists.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree and three years of experience in grant and contract administration, grant writing, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
