Director Prospect Strategy/Research
Summary
The Director is an integral part of the development and execution of research policies and procedures requiring a solid knowledge of giving trends, data analytics, predictive modeling, and data mining to help drive fundraising strategies. This position provides leadership to the team overseeing research and portfolio management functions while serving as a key partner to UF’s development team as an essential member of the Advancement team to establish overall goals and strategies for increasing private support and engagement for the University. Responsible for the planning and execution of a comprehensive program of prospect research, prospect strategy, data management, and analysis.

- Execute a comprehensive prospect development program that identifies, rates, and recommends prospects through biographic, financial and philanthropic research to support cultivation and solicitation activity for the university across all programs (annual fund through principal giving).
- Develop and implement policies and standards for donor/prospect research projects with the primary focus on major and principal gifts.
- Work closely with leadership to maximize effectiveness, fully comprehend and gain thorough knowledge and understanding of campaign priorities, portfolios, and short/long term goals.
- Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis of pipeline activity and movement to drive strategic planning across Advancement, including modeling and donor journey analytics.
- Collaborate with Advancement Intelligence departments to make recommendations for database modifications needed to support effective reporting and analysis.
- Lead long-term strategic planning for the PSR team, including new initiatives and programs, ongoing analysis of current state, drafting of goals, developing of metrics, securing of resources, and tracking of progress against goals, partnering with organizational leadership as appropriate.
- Responsible for executing annual operating plans and budgets supporting program priorities and assessing program strengths and weaknesses in relation to objectives.
- Integrate PSA deliverables and framework with key concepts that align with campaign priorities and organizational
- Directly supervise PSR Leadership staff, including hiring, onboarding, training and professional development, delegating duties, mentoring, certifying time and attendance, performance management (including annual appraisal) and performance action plans.
- Serve as a key member of the Data and Technical Advocacy Steering Committee.
- Serve as the primary SME for prospect development for enhancements of the CRM and associated projects, including data integrity, system functionality, reporting, and development team engagement.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of relevant experience in prospect research or related field; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of relevant experience in prospect research or related field.
