Director, Alumni Relations

Summary

The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for shaping and overseeing the university’s alumni engagement strategy, fostering collaborative partnerships, and ensuring that alumni relationships support broader institutional goals, including fundraising and community building.

• Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive alumni engagement strategies that align with the university’s goals for alumni relations, fundraising, and community involvement.
• Develop and manage alumni programs and a variety of targeted activities that build and engage alumni communities.
• Supervise the assigned areas of responsibility to ensure that the established goals and objectives for the department and the university are communicated and met.
• Provide leadership and direction in policy development.
• Oversee, develop and implement engagement activities designed to engage alumni through strategic partnerships.
• Implement strategies and tactics to increase regional alumni engagement.
• Develop, prepare, present, and manage annual budget.
• Provide guidance and coordination with assigned units on their current alumni program.
• Develop and nurture relationships with high-level alumni volunteers (e.g., steering committees, advisory boards) and help to manage alumni donor relations to support fundraising goals.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate alumni relations efforts into fundraising campaigns and major gift strategies.
• Lead the creation of alumni communications such as newsletters, social media, and other engagement tools to keep alumni connected to the university.
• Work cross-functionally with other offices, such as career services, academic departments, and student affairs, to foster stronger ties between current students and alumni.

Education and Experience

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience in alumni affairs or related field; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of appropriate experience in alumni relations or related field.
