Study Abroad Advisor I

Summary

This position is an integral member of the study abroad team responsible for advising and supporting UF students, faculty, and staff on all aspects of study abroad. The role requires subject-matter expertise for a robust portfolio of study abroad programs in an assigned region or academic discipline.

  • Advises students and provides comprehensive support on topics such as, academic fit, credit transfer, costs, financial aid, visa requirements and benefits of study abroad.
  • Administers the application process for assigned portfolio and coordinates with UF faculty, international partners and program providers about program specifics logistical arrangements.
  • Serves as a liaison between the UF International Center and program providers/partner institutions in the U.S. and overseas.
  • Ensures compliance with program, University, and international rules and regulations relating to international education and travel and responds accordingly to inquiries from students, parents, faculty and others regarding program policies.
  • Participates in outreach events such as freshman preview, study abroad fairs, info sessions, scholarship workshops, and pre-departure orientations to educate students and others on program details and logistics and to market programs and recruit participants.
  • Keeps current in education abroad standards and participates in professional development opportunities affiliated with study abroad, such as international site visits and international education conferences.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and experience living or studying abroad.
