Compensation Specialist II
Summary
The Compensation Specialist II plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and administering the university’s classification and compensation system, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Examples of Work
- Analyzing position and compensation requests, federal and state laws, and university regulations to maintain effective and compliant compensation programs.
- Evaluating job and position actions to determine appropriate university classification and exempt/non-exempt status.
- Assisting in the development of occupational classifications, job descriptions, and compensation practices.
- Serving as a compensation consultant to departments and hiring specialists, providing guidance on classification and compensation matters.
- Preparing reports to document compensation actions, such as job analysis and evaluations.
- Monitoring and recommending revisions to compensation policies for the university’s evolving needs.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure and Certification
Preferred certifications: SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), HRCI Professional of Human Resources (PHR), or HRCI Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR).
