Fiscal Assistant I
Summary
The Fiscal Assistant I position offers basic accounting or fiscal support, primarily focusing on routine calculations, collection, and verification of financial data. The role involves processing account transactions in alignment with the University’s policies and procedures.
Examples of Work
- Verify figures, postings, and documents to ensure proper entry, mathematical accuracy, appropriate codes, and compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Record and summarize financial data, maintaining electronic financial records through systems, journals, or ledgers.
- Operate standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, scanners, and copy machines.
- Abide by all federal, state, and University regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Handle unit account activities, including accounts receivable/payable functions: order preparations, transaction entries, invoice or expense report processing, and receipt deposits.
- Answer inquiries about account policies, procedures, and specific account information.
- Perform general office tasks like filing, phone answering, and managing routine correspondence.
- Assist in annual budget preparations, including data entry for budget setup and year-end procedures.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of general accounts transaction experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
